A Quick Note on Kart Bonuses:

Before we move onto our favourite Karts in Mario Kart Tour, we just want to quickly touch on Kart bonuses. Certain Karts provide you with a points bonus on select tracks, ranging from a lowly normal bonus to double points.

Our favourite Karts list doesn’t take this into account. It might be that using a Kart with a bonus will be a better choice in the race ahead – particularly if points are the biggest priority for you.

Karts:

A Tier:

Blue Badwagon:

The Blue Badwagon is our joint favourite Kart in Mario Kart Tour, and it’s easy to see why. Those that opt for the best control scheme – Drift mode – can trigger its Special Skill, Mini-Turbo Plus, often, showering you with bonus points.

Not only that, but boost its level by pulling loads of them from the pipe and you’ll boost the points you earn while using it further. It’s an absolute points machine that’s second to none, and it’s a stylish Kart to boot.

Badwagon:

The Badwagon is identical in stats to the Blue Badwagon, but has more Favoured Courses with a double points bonus, so may well end up being your personal favourite.

  • Daisy Hills R
  • Bowser’s Castle 1
  • Rock Rock Mountain R

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Bowser’s Castle 1R
  • Rock Rock Mountain T

Gold Blooper:

The Gold Blooper is right up there with the Badwagons as our favourite Kart in Mario Kart Tour, but just narrowly misses out on being our favourite due to its slightly lower bonus points reward for levelling it up. It’s such a slight difference that it’s barely noticeable though, so don’t despair.

It has a lot of double point bonus tracks too, so might end up being the best option on certain tracks.

Special Skill Description
Mini-Turbo Plus Greatly increases Mini-Turbo boost time and points earned for performing one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Koopa Troopa Beach
  • Koopa Troopa Beach T

Super Blooper:

The Super Blooper is identical to the Gold Blooper, just with different Favoured Courses. Switch between the two to get the Favoured Course bonus.

Soda Jet:

The Soda Jet is a cute little Kart that sits behind the Badwagons and alongside the Bloopers as our second favourite Kart option in Mario Kart Tour. Select it ahead of the others on its Favoured Courses.

Special Skill Description
Mini-Turbo Plus Greatly increases Mini-Turbo boost time and points earned for performing one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Koopa Troopa Beach T
  • Cheep Cheep Lagoon
  • New York Minute

  • Koopa Troopa Beach
  • Rock Rock Mountain T
  • Yoshi Circuit T
  • Mario Circuit 1R
  • Cheep Cheep Lagoon R

B Tier:

Yellow Taxi:

The Yellow Taxi drops to B Tier due to its Special Skill, the Jump Boost Plus, not proving quite as constantly reliable as Mini-Turbo Plus due to you having to rely on their being a jump boost present. However, it’s the second best Special Skill option for good reason, as Jump Boosts prove the second most reliable speed boost behind the Mini Turbo.

Special Skill Description
Jump Boost Plus Greatly increases Jump Boost boost time and points earned for performing one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Toad Circuit R
  • Mario Circuit 1T
  • New York Minute
  • New York Minute T

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Toad Circuit T
  • Yoshi Circuit R
  • Yoshi Circuit T
  • New York Minute R
  • New York Minute R/T

Turbo Yoshi:

Turbo Yoshi provides less bonus points when levelled up but will prove the best option on its Favoured Courses over the Yellow Taxi.

Special Skill Description
Jump Boost Plus Greatly increases Jump Boost boost time and points earned for performing one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Yoshi Circuit
  • Mario Circuit 1T
  • Dino Dino Jungle T

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Toad Circuit R
  • Rock Rock Mountain
  • Yoshi Circuit R
  • Daisy Hills
  • Dino Dino Jungle
  • Dino Dino Jungle R

Mushmellow:

The Mushmellow is the easiest of our B tier options to unlock, and is the only silver Kart to sit higher than a C tier, so it might well end up being your favourite option for much of the game. That’s fine, as the Mushmellow is a solid Kart, with a terrific Special Skill and only slightly less Bonus Points than its B tier competitors.

Special Skill Description
Jump Boost Plus Greatly increases Jump Boost boost time and points earned for performing one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Toad Circuit
  • Toad Circuit T

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Daisy Hills
  • Toad Circuit R
  • Cheep Cheep Lagoon R

C Tier:

Black B Dasher:

The B Dashers are our least favourite pink karts thanks to the lacklustre Dash Panel Plus, which is one of the least reliable bonus point sources. There are far more opportunities to perform a Jump Boost or Mini-Turbo in Mario Kart Tour, so karts that provide a bonus for either of them naturally sit higher on our tier list. Still, on its Favoured Courses you might as well go with the B Dasher.

Special Skill Description
Dash Panel Plus Greatly increases Dash Panel boost time and points earned for using one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Yoshi Circuit
  • Yoshi Circuit T
  • New York Minute R
  • New York Minute R/T

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Daisy Hills R
  • Daisy Hills T
  • Toad Circuit R
  • Toad Circuit T
  • Mario Circuit 1
  • Mario Circuit 1T
  • Cheep Cheep Lagoon R
  • New York Minute T

B Dasher:

The B Dasher is identical to its black counterpart, just with different Favoured Courses.

Special Skill Description
Dash Panel Plus Greatly increases Dash Panel boost time and points earned for using one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Daisy Hills
  • Toad Circuit
  • Toad Circuit R
  • Mario Circuit 1
  • Cheep Cheep Lagoon T

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Yoshi Circuit T
  • Mario Circuit 1R
  • Mario Circuit 1T
  • New York Minute R
  • New York Minute R/T

Daytripper:

The Daytripper is, for our money, a nicer vehicle to ride than the B Dashers, with a very reliable drift and solid speed. It suffers from the same disappointing Special Skill though, so sits in C tier alongside them.

Special Skill Description
Dash Panel Plus Greatly increases Dash Panel boost time and points earned for using one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Daisy Hills
  • Shy Guy Bazaar R

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Daisy Hills T
  • Toad Circuit R
  • Mario Circuit 1T
  • New York Minute

Birthday Girl:

The Birthday Girl is like a silver version of the Daytripper, though with lesser handling. We’d only recommend using it on its Favoured Courses if you have no alternatives.

Special Skill Description
Dash Panel Plus Greatly increases Dash Panel boost time and points earned for using one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Daisy Hills R
  • Toad Circuit T

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Daisy Hills
  • Daisy Hills T
  • Yoshi Circuit T

Mach 8:

The Mach 8 is a decent kart, with a solid number of Favoured Courses and decent handling and speed. It’s Special Skill is also handy for those of you that like to race among the pack, picking up a regular slipstream speed bonus. We don’t find it as reliable as the Jump Boost and Mini-Turbo though, so relegated it to C tier.

Special Skill Description
Slipstream Plus Further increases Slipstream boost time and points earned for performing one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Rock Rock Mountain T
  • Yoshi Circuit R
  • Mario Circuit 1
  • Shy Guy Bazaar R

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Toad Circuit
  • Toad Circuit T
  • Yoshi Circuit
  • Yoshi Circuit T

Pipe Frame:

The Pipe Frame is the default kart in Mario Kart Tour, and it’s a reliable vehicle. It’s very good for beginners, with balanced stats that can help you remain competitive. Sadly, its Special Skill lets it down though.

Special Skill Description
Slipstream Plus Further increases Slipstream boost time and points earned for performing one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Mario Circuit 1R

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Dino Dino Jungle
  • Koopa Troopa Beach
  • Koopa Troopa Beach R
  • Toad Circuit T
  • Mario Circuit 1

D Tier:

Barrel Train:

All of the karts in our D tier suffer from the same problem: the worst Special Skill in Mario Kart Tour. Rocket Start Plus only provides you with a points bonus once per game, and that’s only if you manage to pull off a Rocket Start in the first place. It pales in comparison to literally any of the other Special Skills.

Special Skill Description
Rocket Start Plus Further increases your Rocket Start boost time and points earned for performing one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Rock Rock Mountain
  • Rock Rock Mountain R
  • Dino Dino Jungle R

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Rock Rock Mountain T
  • Shy Guy Bazaar R
  • Dino Dino Jungle
  • Koopa Troopa Beach R
  • New York Minute

Bull’s-Eye Banzai:

Bull’s-Eye Banzai shares the same problem with the Barrel Train and every other D tier kart in its lacklustre Special Skill.

Special Skill Description
Rocket Start Plus Further increases your Rocket Start boost time and points earned for performing one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Bowser’s Castle 1T
  • New York Minute T

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Rock Rock Mountain
  • Shy Guy Bazaar
  • Shy Guy Bazaar R
  • Shy Guy Bazaar T
  • Bowser’s Castle 1
  • Bowser’s Castle 1R

Bullet Blaster:

The Bullet Blaster is identical to Bull’s-Eye Banzai, just with different Favoured Courses.

Special Skill Description
Rocket Start Plus Further increases your Rocket Start boost time and points earned for performing one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Shy Guy Bazaar T
  • Bowser’s Castle 1

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Rock Rock Mountain R
  • Shy Guy Bazaar
  • Bowser’s Castle 1R

Koopa Dasher:

The only reason you’d use the Koopa Dasher, aside from for cosmetic reasons, is if it was your only option to get maximum points on Koopa Troopa Beach.

Special Skill Description
Rocket Start Plus Further increases your Rocket Start boost time and points earned for performing one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Koopa Troopa Beach

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Dino Dino Jungle T
  • Koopa Troopa Beach R
  • Koopa Troopa Beach T
  • Cheep Cheep Lagoon R
  • Cheep Cheep Lagoon T
  • Shy Guy Bazaar R

Flame Flyer:

The Flame Flyer is an awesome looking vehicle that suffers from the worst Special Skill in Mario Kart Tour. Use it on its Favoured Courses if you don’t have better.

Special Skill Description
Rocket Start Plus Further increases Rocket Start boost time and points earned for performing one.

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x2:

  • Dino Dino Jungle
  • Bowser’s Castle 1T

Favoured Courses – Bonus Points x1.5:

  • Daisy Hills T
  • Dino Dino Jungle R
  • Rock Rock Mountain R
  • Shy Guy Bazaar
  • New York Minute T
  • New York Minute R
  • New York Minute R/T

Football Drama Review

Football management games are a bit like former Stoke, West Brom and Middlesbrough coach Tony Pulis. They tend to stick with what they know best and steadfastly refuse to change with the times. Initially, playing it safe can steady a sinking ship and keep the fans happy but eventually, the supporters will be yearning for […]
